Job Title: IT Equipment Crating Technician (Data Center)

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented IT Equipment Crating Technician to assist with the preparation and crating of enterprise data center equipment. This position requires safely preparing a fully populated equipment rack for transport by securing it inside a customer-provided shipping crate. The technician will follow established procedures while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and attention to detail.

Note: This role does not include transporting or relocating the rack or crate. The technician's responsibility ends once the rack has been properly secured inside the crate.

Primary Responsibilities

• Locate the designated equipment rack within the customer facility.
• Identify and verify the correct shipping crate.
• Inspect the rack and surrounding work area before beginning work.
• Prepare the equipment rack for crating according to provided instructions.
• Carefully guide and position the rack into the shipping crate (movement performed as directed by onsite personnel).
• Secure the rack inside the crate using the required fastening hardware and procedures.
• Verify all hardware is properly tightened and the equipment is safely secured.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the project.
• Report any equipment damage, missing components, or safety concerns immediately.
• Follow all customer site safety policies and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience working in data centers, IT infrastructure environments, warehouses, or equipment installation projects preferred.
• Experience assembling or securing shipping crates is a plus.
• Comfortable working around large, heavy IT equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
• Ability to work safely in customer production environments.
• Professional communication skills and dependable attendance.

• Pliers

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working around large equipment and within confined rack aisles.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
