Position Title: Business Development & Marketing Specialist 
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business, or a related field. Five or more years of progressively responsible legal marketing and business development experience in a law firm or professional services environment is required.
*This is not Venue Coordinator or Web Designer/Graphic Designer position. This is a Professional Business-to-Business Marketing Specialist position.
Location:  Brookfield, WI.
Job Type:  Full-Time.
Remote: Hybrid. 3 days on-site in Brookfield, WI, and 2 days remote (after training).
Schedule:  Monday-Friday (as needed due to business).
Salary:  Based on experience: $70K-$75K/yearly, overtime eligible and benefits.

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and results-oriented Business Development & Marketing Specialist to join our Business Development & Marketing team. This highly visible, hands-on role is designed for a legal marketing professional with five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a law firm or professional services environment. Working closely with attorneys and firm leadership, this individual will help strengthen client relationships, pursue new business opportunities, build brand presence, and support the firm's continued growth.
The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, polished communication skills, and a sophisticated understanding of legal marketing and business development. This person is equally comfortable advising attorneys, developing high-quality client-facing materials, and managing the details required to move complex initiatives forward. They understand how to align a firm's experience and capabilities with client needs and turn ideas into practical, measurable opportunities.

Business Development & Attorney Support -

• Serve as a knowledgeable business development and marketing partner to attorneys, practice groups, and firm leadership, helping identify and pursue opportunities to deepen client relationships and win new work.

• Lead the development of tailored proposals, RFP responses, pitches, and presentations that clearly and persuasively communicate our firms capabilities, relevant experience, and value to clients.

• Create and regularly update pitch materials, practice group descriptions, experience lists, brochures and other business development collateral.

• Advise practice groups and individual attorneys on business development planning, client outreach, profile-building initiatives, and the effective use of firm resources.

• Conduct thoughtful research on clients, prospects, industries, competitors, and market opportunities, and translate findings into practical business development recommendations.

• Track marketing and business development activities; help assess results, return on investment, and opportunities for improvement; and recommend appropriate follow-up.

• Help attorneys translate their experience and insights into compelling, client-focused messaging.

Digital, Content & Brand Marketing -

• Draft, edit and publish content for the firm’s website, social media channels, email communications and other platforms.

• Create engaging social media content and graphics and maintain the firm’s social media editorial calendar.

• Maintain and update website content using WordPress, with attention to SEO, AI search visibility, usability and brand consistency.

• Draft, edit and maintain attorney biographies, practice descriptions and other website content.

• Identify opportunities to showcase attorney experience through thought leadership, media opportunities, firm news, events and client-focused content.

• Write and coordinate submissions for legal directories, awards and rankings.

• Support website development and other digital initiatives, including coordination with outside vendors.

• Help ensure brand presentation and messaging are consistently reflected across marketing and business development materials.

Events, Sponsorships & Client Engagement -

• Coordinate CLE programs, client seminars, webinars, conferences, receptions, sponsorships and other firm events.

• Manage event logistics, including venues, contracts, catering, invitations, registration, presentation materials and follow-up communications.

• Work with attorneys to develop programs and events that provide meaningful value to clients and prospects.

• Support event promotion and post-event engagement and help evaluate participation and results.

• Coordinate the firm’s participation in selected sponsorships, conferences, directories, and other visibility opportunities.

Internal Communications & Firmwide Initiatives -

• Develop and distribute internal communications, including firm news, employee announcements and Business Development & Marketing updates.

• Maintain relevant content on the firm’s intranet.

• Collaborate with attorneys and business professionals across our company's offices and practice areas.

• Support firmwide strategic, branding, and business development initiatives.

• Perform other marketing and business development responsibilities as opportunities and priorities evolve.

• Travel occasionally to other company offices, client events and firm programs.

Qualifications -

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business, or a related field.

• Five or more years of progressively responsible legal marketing and business development experience in a law firm or professional services environment is required.

• Demonstrated sophistication in supporting attorneys or other senior professionals, including the judgment, discretion, responsiveness, and credibility needed to advise internal stakeholders and produce polished client-facing work.

• Substantive experience developing proposals, RFP responses, pitches, practice materials, thought leadership, digital content, events, and other legal marketing or client development initiatives.

• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and business information into clear, compelling, and client-focused communications.

• Strong interpersonal and consultative skills, including the confidence to work directly with attorneys, firm leaders, and business professionals and to move projects forward diplomatically.

• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple sophisticated projects, competing priorities, and deadlines with limited oversight.

• Strong attention to detail and a consistent record of producing accurate, high-quality work.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, plus experience with WordPress and email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact.

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools.

• Working knowledge of SEO, digital marketing, social media, legal directories and rankings, and emerging AI tools and search practices is strongly valued.

• A proactive, collaborative mindset, strong professional presence, and willingness to take ownership of projects from strategy through execution.

Work Environment -

This is a full-time position based in our company's Brookfield office. After an onboarding period set by the employee’s supervisor, eligible employees may work remotely up to two days per week, provided they meet performance expectations.
