Maintenance & Facilities ManagerThe Maintenance & Facilities Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance execution and facilities operations to ensure maximum equipment reliability, uptime, and safe, efficient plant operations. This role provides direct oversight of maintenance technicians and the maintenance planning function, while owning the coordination of facilities systems, contractors, and technical resources.This position consolidates responsibilities previously distributed across maintenance leadership, facilities oversight, and portions of engineering coordination into a single, execution-focused leadership role.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Leadership & ExecutionLead all day-to-day maintenance activities (reactive, preventive, and predictive)Supervise and develop Maintenance Technicians to maximize productivity and skill growthEnsure timely and high-quality completion of work ordersDrive continuous improvement in maintenance processes and reliabilityPlanning & Scheduling OversightDirect and support the Maintenance Planner to ensure effective planning, scheduling, and prioritization of workImprove PM compliance and optimize maintenance workflowsReduce reactive work through improved planning disciplineFacilities ManagementOwn all facility systems including HVAC, utilities, compressed air, electrical distribution, and building infrastructureEnsure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirementsCoordinate and manage facility-related repairs, upgrades, and inspectionsContractor & Vendor ManagementManage external contractors and service providersNegotiate scope, ensure quality of work, and control costsCoordinate specialized technical services and equipment supportReliability & Continuous ImprovementDrive equipment uptime and reliability initiativesReduce downtime through root cause analysis and corrective actionsImplement best practices in preventive and predictive maintenanceCMMS & Performance ManagementEnsure disciplined use of CMMS for work orders, asset tracking, and reportingMonitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including:Equipment uptimePM complianceMean Time to Repair (MTTR)Work order backlogOvertime utilizationCross-Functional CoordinationPartner with Operations, Engineering (as needed), and Production teamsSupport capital projects and equipment installationsServe as the primary point of contact for maintenance and facilities-related issuesSpan of ControlDirect ReportsMaintenance TechniciansMaintenance PlannerFunctional OwnershipMaintenance execution (all shifts)Maintenance planning and schedulingFacilities systems and infrastructureContractor/vendor performanceQualificationsRequired5–10+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and facilities systemsProven experience leading teams and driving accountabilityExperience with CMMS systems and maintenance KPIsDemonstrated ability to reduce downtime and improve reliabilityPreferredExperience overseeing both maintenance and facilities functionsBackground in lean manufacturing or continuous improvementProject management or capital project experienceSkills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and team development skillsExcellent problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilityAbility to prioritize and manage multiple demandsFinancial and cost-control awarenessEffective communication across all levels of the organizationWhy This Role MattersThis role is critical to ensuring operational stability by aligning maintenance execution, planning, and facilities management under a single leader.
