Transportation Supervisor

Summary: The Transportation Supervisor oversees daily transportation operations and courier staff. Manages safety, route planning, personnel scheduling, and workload assignments. Responsible for training, recruiting, counseling, coaching, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews. Processes and approves payroll, time-off requests, and exceptions. Communicates changes, initiatives, and program rollouts to frontline staff. Collaborates with outsourced vendors to maintain the fleet. Ensures compliance with DOT, IFTA, and IRP reporting and requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Work Hours: Monday to Friday from 06:00 AM to 04:00 PM, 2 Saturday(s) a month from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to complete the following essential duties and responsibilities:

• Build, schedule, and consolidate product deliveries using strategic routing software.
• Monitor transportation activities to ensure FMCSA and DOT compliance for drivers and vehicles (Hours of Service, GVWR, DQ files, medical and license expirations).
• Provide performance and safety feedback to drivers aligned with company goals.
• Arrange and schedule preventive maintenance and repairs for equipment and delivery vehicles based on FMCSA and manufacturer guidelines.
• Conduct internal investigations to identify root causes of transportation incidents and improve safety procedures.
• Promote and maintain a safety-focused culture across all MSI vehicles and drivers.
• Collect, upload, and store documentation related to outbound freight, driver compliance, and vehicle maintenance in accordance with DOT and company policies.
• Manage operational aspects of transportation projects and act as liaison among planning, project teams, and line management.
• Plan, organize, and manage staff to ensure work aligns with organizational standards.
• Partner with warehouse, sales, and supply chain personnel to optimize performance.
• Ensure branch distribution needs are met based on personnel requests.
• Coordinate with carrier representatives for product loading and shipment instructions.
• Perform additional duties as required or requested.

Additionally the candidate must meet the following Education and/or Experience requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred
• One (1) to two (2) years of warehouse experience.
• One (1) to two (2) years of dispatch and/or fleet experience.
• One (1) plus year experience using routing software (e.g., Descartes Routing Software).
• One (1) plus year experience using or interacting with Warehouse Management Software (WMS).
• One (1) plus year experience training and coaching drivers on safety or productivity (e.g., Lytx Drive Cam Software).
• One (1) plus year experience implementing or creating programs to improve efficiency, safety, or company goals.
• Experience with change management and conflict resolution leadership styles.
• Experience analyzing data and creating reports for process improvement.
