Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America. Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will perform tasks involved in the formation and administration of purchase orders. You will prepare bidders’ lists, qualify bidders, form bid packages, issue bid requests, participate in negotiations, recommend commitments, secure approvals, communicate with suppliers and monitor supplier performance. Your efforts are to ensure potential and current suppliers comply with purchase order requirements and provide the required service and results to meet project needs.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-RG1

Major Responsibilities:

• Communicates with Engineering to assist and/or guide them in the preparation of material requisitions for the procurement of materials and equipment and to achieve the understanding needed to process these requisitions

• Forms bid packages and issues bid requests; coordinates bidders’ questions; and receives bidder proposals

• Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations to award

• Prepares and commits purchase orders within their authority

• Communicates with suppliers and personnel within Bechtel to establish clear definition of requirements and to assure supplier performance to the obligations within the purchase order

• Identifies, defines, and secures agreement regarding purchase order changes

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Proficiency and experience in the formation and administration of purchase orders through the several steps of bidder prequalification, compilation of bid requests, receipt of bids, bid evaluation, award, monitoring the performance of suppliers and buyers, back charge procedures, resolution of claims and disputes, and other such related steps.

• Proficiency in oral and written communication.

• Knowledge of all procurement operations related to Field Procurement activities at multiple locations.

• Knowledge and experience in the use of DSCS, including Purchasing, Expediting, Traffic & Logistics and Inventory Modules.
