Sheeter Assistant

The Opportunity Join Smurfit Westrock as an Assistant Sheeter Operator, where you will play an important role in producing high-quality paperboard sheets that support our printing and packaging operations. In this position, you will work closely with the Lead Sheeter Operator to set up, operate, and maintain sheeting equipment while ensuring products meet customer and production specifications. This hands-on role is essential to maintaining efficient production flow, minimizing waste, and delivering quality materials to downstream operations. A typical day may include retrieving and loading paperboard rolls, assisting with machine setup, inspecting product quality, monitoring equipment performance, preparing finished pallets for shipment, and supporting continuous production activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working as part of a team in a manufacturing setting. Shifts Day Shift: 6am-2pm-Monday-Friday Night Shift: 10pm-6am-Sunday-Thursday How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock Retrieve the appropriate paperboard stock from the warehouse using material handling equipment to support production schedules. Load paperboard rolls onto the sheeter and assist with roll breakdown, waste management, and recycling activities. Set up machine guides, decurlers, and related equipment to ensure products are manufactured to specification. Inspect test sheets and verify conformance to work orders, making necessary adjustments to support quality standards. Monitor machine performance and identify operational issues requiring adjustment or corrective action. Assist in maintaining efficient production by keeping pallets supplied, preparing load tags, and wrapping or banding finished loads. Support efforts to reduce material waste and maximize machine productivity. Follow established work instructions, operating procedures, and production requirements to ensure safe and consistent operations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to all safety policies and personal protective equipment requirements. Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and team members to meet production, quality, and customer expectations. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and product quality.Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by department leadership. What You Need to Succeed High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of one year of manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Strong mathematical aptitude with the ability to perform measurements and basic calculations accurately. Knowledge and use of measuring devices, including tape measures and micrometers. Forklift experience preferred. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company procedures.
