Step into a rewarding role supporting high school and transition-aged students with special needs as a school-based Social Worker. This full-time contract opportunity, located near Des Plaines and Vernon Hills, IL, involves providing dedicated support at ELC West, working 37.5 hours per week. The assignment will begin as soon as possible and continue for the foreseeable future, filling in for a valued team member on leave.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Social Worker endorsement
- Experience working within school settings, especially with high school or transition-aged students
- Strong skills in fostering positive, supportive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Proven ability to develop and implement plans and interventions for students with special needs
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and advocacy abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social-emotional and behavioral support to high school and transition-aged students
- Develop and deliver individualized support plans, collaborating with special education teams
- Facilitate group and one-on-one counseling sessions focused on social skills and emotional regulation
- Serve as a resource for families and staff, both in crisis situations and ongoing developmental needs
- Participate in IEP meetings, documentation, and student goal progress monitoring
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and safe school environment for students with diverse needs
