Human Resources Generalist

HomeWell Care Services is looking for a HR Generalist to join our team! The role is responsible for maintaining a pool of eligible caregivers needed to meet the agency’s growing client census and service hours. This is accomplished through continual recruiting, hiring and orientating of qualified caregivers. In addition, this position performs various human resource functions for agency caregivers, including such task as employee relations and retention, personnel file management, monitoring of documentation, certification and/or training needed to remain eligible for placement, conducting performance evaluations and disciplinary meetings, and documenting various employment related events. Lastly is responsible for being the assistant to the Director of HR and completing unemployment claims, management of benefits and various duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Continually recruit caregivers to maintain a pool of eligible and available caregivers. This may include but is not limited to: Creating and posting online job ads. Sourcing potential applicants on resume databases and social media sites. Attending and/or hosting job fairs. Partnering with local nursing assistant programs. Promoting the agency’s employee referral program to current caregivers. Conduct in-person and virtual interviews with potential candidates. Provide job offers to selected candidates, collect new‑hire paperwork and copies of all applicable identification, licensure, certifications, and/or completed trainings, and ensure documents are correctly filled out and signed. Schedule qualified candidates for orientation and provide new hires with remaining onboarding documentation to be completed by the end of their orientation day one. Teach orientation day one for all newly hired caregivers to share the agency’s history and mission, set expectations, review procedures, promote brand consistency, and foster a positive employer‑employee relationship. Create personnel files and ensure caregiver information is accurately loaded into the agency’s CRM system. Assign training courses, provide caregiver login information, and monitor completion by the required date. Ensure required background checks, CAPS, and motor vehicle records are processed prior to placement with any client. Monitor upcoming document expirations and required continuing education/performance evaluations; ensure needed items are completed by and/or collected from caregivers by their required due date. Conduct caregiver performance evaluations at 30 days and annually along with required training at 6 months. Draft disciplinary actions with input from Operations Manager and schedule and complete issuing of disciplinary actions. Complete termination letters with review from Operations Manager and schedule and perform terminations. Complete exit interviews with caregivers. Audit and maintain caregiver personnel files in accordance with regulatory requirements and agency policy. Serve as the agency liaison for caregivers, promoting a culture of engagement. Regularly communicate with eligible caregivers to confirm availability, desired hours, contact information and satisfaction with the agency, with increased focus during the first 90 days of employment. Conduct check‑in interviews with caregivers at 30–45 days and annually. Ensure caregivers feel properly appreciated, supported, and recognized. Verify hours and rates for caregivers through CRM system. Ensure paycheck software system is current and up to date for personnel records including but not limited to W‑4, I‑9, and direct deposit. Field and answer questions from staff regarding pay checks. Complete employment verifications. Manage employee benefits. Oversee the employee rewards program Zingage. REQUIREMENTS Minimum of one year recruiting and onboarding experience. Minimum of one year experience in employee relations. Homecare or related experience in the field a plus. Willingness to travel between local branches as needed to support the team. Experience with Excel and Microsoft programs. Organizational skills. Ability to multitask. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: This is a primarily sedentary position. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports directly to Operations and HR Director.
