Controls EngineerLocation: New Hudson, MIPay Rate: $79K - $126KWork Mode: OnsiteSummary:Direct hire opportunityMonday-Friday, 8AM - 5PM, with additional effort as needed to meet project deadlinesTravel: 10% mostly in the Great Lakes region to test sitesRequirements:Experience developing control algorithms and deploying them on real systems.Model based software development using Simulink.Experience conducting testing and processing data.Responsibilities:Support vehicle controls and software development, electronics integration, and system commissioningUtilize fundamental engineering knowledge and practices to support design and development of control algorithmsPerform assignments with minimal instruction and guidance from senior level engineers and managersSupport the development of prototype and concept vehicles with a focus on vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned vehicle platformsDefine controls architecture, platform, and functionalityCreate control algorithms for specific systems in a Simulink environmentDevelop and test controls performance through modeling, bench, and vehicle testingIntegrate and commission prototype systems in development vehiclesFormulate multi-domain models of mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systemsAnalyze performance metrics and system specifications from model resultsModel correlation and validation to test dataUse models to develop and test controls algorithmsSupport design, selection, and integration of electronic componentsCommunicate mechanical requirements of system to design staffIdentify controller hardware to meet I/O and computational requirementsCommunicate wiring and connector requirements to support harness buildsInteract with current and potential customers regarding company systemsParticipate in planning and program management on internal and customer projectsProvide feedback on product needs and processesRequirements:BS or MS in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechatronic SystemsMinimum 3 years of engineering experienceStrong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skillsProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)Be a team player with great attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skillsPreferred Skills:Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and StateflowDevelopment software and tools for embedded systems such as MotoTron/MotoHawk, Raptor, OpenECU, dSPACE MABXCAN tools like Vector CANape, Vector CANalyzer, Kvaser CanKingVehicle level simulation with CarSim/TruckSim, ADAMS, DymolaData acquisition hardware and software experienceVehicle and system troubleshooting experienceKnowledge of automotive, robotics, defense, or motorsports industriesFamiliarity with communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, LIN, Wireless 802.11, DSRC)Understanding of electric and hybrid vehicle architectureExperience in electrical/mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic system design and simulationAutonomous and by-wire designActuator controls (motors, valves)Embedded C code developmentInterview Process:HR Phone ScreenManager Teams InterviewPanel Onsite Interview
