Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7p–7a) | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation with permanent staff

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 24-bed mixed Medical Surgical and Telemetry unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:4 or 1:5, including total care patients
• Manage a primarily medical patient population including diagnoses such as UTI, pleural effusions, altered mental status, hepatic encephalopathy, dehydration, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, and cellulitis
• Titrate heparin drips per protocol ; no other titratable drips are used on this unit
• Monitor patients with telemetry capability using a Philips cardiac monitoring system; strip reading is not required of bedside RNs
• Manage patients on CPAP (home routine) and stable BiPap; note that this unit does not support high-flow oxygen or ventilators
• Float to another Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit as needed; no on-call or standby requirement

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of California
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience
• Comfort and proficiency managing a 1:5 patient ratio, including total care patients

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with telemetry monitoring in a mixed Med Surg / Tele setting
• Familiarity with Philips cardiac monitoring systems
• Experience caring for patients on BiPap or CPAP therapy
