Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility is seeking a dedicated Unit Coordinator to ensure a high level of patient care for our residents.

Hours: 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday

Generous Pay: Ranging from $18.00-$22.00/hour

Overview: A Unit Coordinator plays a crucial role in LTC settings by providing administrative and clerical support to nursing units, contributing to the smooth functioning of the healthcare facility. The primary responsibilities involve maintaining accurate records, facilitating communication between staff members, and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations within the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Record Keeping:

  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols.

  • Input and retrieve patient information from electronic health records (EHR) systems.

  • Compile and organize medical charts, admission and discharge documents, and other relevant paperwork.

• Communication:

  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Relay messages, instructions, and pertinent information to the appropriate personnel within the unit.

  • Answer and direct phone calls, responding to inquiries and forwarding messages as needed.

• Scheduling and Coordination:

  • Assist in scheduling patient appointments, procedures, and consultations.

  • Coordinate unit activities, meetings, and appointments for nursing staff.

  • Arrange and communicate patient transfers within the facility.

• Supply Management:

  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of unit supplies.

  • Place orders for medical and office supplies as needed.

  • Ensure adequate stock of forms, documents, and stationery.

• Patient Support:

  • Greet and assist patients and their families, providing information and directions.

  • Arrange for transportation or escort services for patients when necessary.

  • Collaborate with nursing staff to address non-clinical patient needs.

• Data Entry:

  • Input and update patient demographic information, insurance details, and billing codes.

  • Enter and retrieve data accurately and in a timely manner.

• Adherence to Regulations:

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, confidentiality, and privacy laws.

  • Participate in training programs to stay informed about changes in procedures and regulations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.

• Proven experience in a clerical or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting.

• Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health record systems.

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficient in basic computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).
