Software Engineer Manager II, Privacy, Safety, and Security

Spend your time designing systems, writing and reviewing code, and improving our multi-agent pipelines, evaluation judges, and verification sandboxes.Manage, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers and tech leads, keeping the team focused on solving real Privacy, Safety, Security, and compliance problems rather than building unnecessary complexity.Drive our multi-quarter strategy with partner teams across Privacy, Safety, Security, and Compliance.Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.8 years of experience in software development.8 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.Experience building developer platforms, automated code-fixing or CI/CD pipelines, distributed backend services.Preferred qualifications:Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.Experience building LLM applications, multi-agent workflows, tool-use harnesses or automated evaluation pipelines and agentic code quality.Familiarity with privacy/safety engineering, software security including common weakness enumerations (CWEs), sanitizers, vulnerability patching, or production compliance (BCID, policy enforcement).Like Google's own ambitions, the work of a Software Engineer goes beyond just Search.
