Data Entry Pharmacy TechnicianThis role focuses on high-volume, accurate data entry for compounded prescriptions in a fast-paced pharmacy environment. You will support pharmacists by entering prescription information, communicating with patients and healthcare providers, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations while contributing to a collaborative and rapidly growing organization.ResponsibilitiesAccurately perform compounding data entry for up to 350 prescriptions per day.Enter prescription formulas received via e-scribe, fax, and verbal orders into the pharmacy system.Review prescriptions for completeness and collaborate with prescribing providers to clarify any discrepancies.Enter prescription data, patient information, and insurance details with a high level of accuracy.Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries from patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies in a professional and courteous manner.Communicate prescription status, insurance coverage, and medication information clearly to patients.Assist pharmacists in processing refill requests, prior authorizations, and prescription transfers.Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable pharmacy regulations.Perform administrative tasks such as filing, scanning documents, and supporting inventory management.Use the C-Compounding System to support efficient and accurate prescription processing.Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment and support the pharmacy's growth and expansion initiatives.Essential SkillsPharmacy experience in a data entry or similar role.Pharmacy technician certification.Active Tennessee (TN) Pharmacy Technician License.Data entry technician experience handling approximately 80–300 prescriptions per day.Some compounding experience or knowledge.Ability to use the C-Compounding System or similar pharmacy software for data entry.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume prescription processing.Professional communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA and pharmacy regulations.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsCompounding experience with multiple drugs is preferred.Experience with C-Compounding or other electronic medical record (EMR) systems used by data entry technicians.Interest in leadership opportunities within a rapidly growing pharmacy.Ability to adapt to evolving processes and support expansion initiatives.Work EnvironmentThis position operates in a fast-paced pharmacy setting on a first shift schedule, typically from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will work alongside a team that currently includes six pharmacists and a total staff of approximately 30 people. The facility is about 5,000 square feet, with an additional 4,000 square feet of expansion underway to support rapid growth. The pharmacy currently utilizes six hoods, with eight more being added, providing a modern, well-equipped environment for compounding and prescription processing. The culture emphasizes collaboration, growth, and leadership opportunities as the organization expands through 2025 and 2026.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Knoxville, TN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
