About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 (7 PM - 7 AM) Experience: Minimum 2 Years Med/Tele RN Experience License: RN License (Associate's Degree at a Minimum) Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Required Must-Have: - Strong Clinical Assessment and Time Management Skills - IV Insertion and Maintenance Skills - Cardiac Monitoring and Interpretation - Care Coordination with Interdisciplinary Teams - Discharge Planning Knowledge and Patient Education Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse in the MedSurg/Tele specialty. The unit consists of 16 beds with an average census of 16 patients. Patient types include chest pain, syncope/vomiting, abdominal pain, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, heart failure observation, dehydration, hypertension, diabetes, and simple trauma. Expected patient ratios are 1:4-6 for RNs and LPNs, and 1-2 CNAs per shift. Nurses are required to perform trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and insulin/heparin drips. Registered Nurses will be responsible for patient assessments, care coordination, and discharge planning. Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries, and a resource nurse for assistance. The nursing team will use EMR technology and cardiac telemetry monitoring systems to ensure efficient patient care. Nursing staff should be prepared for high patient turnover and work as a team in a busy environment. Floating may occur to other adult medical-surgical/telemetry units as needed.
