Senior Quality Assurance TesterCapstone IT is helping our client in the Utilities domain to find a Senior Quality Assurance Tester to join their Information Technology Group in Richmond, VA. This senior-level role combines quality assurance and test automation. The Quality Analyst will partner with business and IT teams to understand requirements, analyze business processes, create and execute test plans, troubleshoot defects, and expand automated testing capabilities. This role will also help align technology solutions with business objectives, contribute to long-term systems planning, and mentor less-experienced Testers.The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant experience supporting large-scale enterprise systems and hands-on technical experience with Java, TypeScript, HTML, XML, Playwright, Selenium, and modern web technologies such as React or Next.js.Top 4 SkillsQA & Test Automation — Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, automation frameworks, test scripts, and identifying appropriate tests for automation.Java & TypeScript — Hands-on experience using Java and TypeScript to support automated testing and web applications.Enterprise Testing & Stakeholder Communication — Test planning, defect management, root-cause analysis, large-scale enterprise systems, and communication between business and IT teams.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze complex business and systems problems and recommend solutions.Partner with business and IT stakeholders to understand and clarify requirements.Align technology solutions with business strategies and needs.Conduct business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost-benefit analysis.Create, maintain, and execute test plans based on business requirements.Identify, document, track, and troubleshoot software defects.Perform root-cause analysis on application and system issues.Determine which test cases are good candidates for automation.Develop and maintain automated testing scripts.Develop and enhance automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, Java, and TypeScript.Support multiple projects within assigned business units.Communicate technology requirements and trends between customers and IT.Contribute to longer-term systems planning.Mentor and advise less-experienced Business Systems Analysts.Develop training and share technical and business knowledge with team members.Qualifications5+ years of directly related experience.Bachelor's degree or equivalent related progressive professional experience.Preferred degrees include Business, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Mathematics.Experience with business systems analysis and/or large-scale enterprise IT systems.Experience working across multiple software and hardware platforms.Strong understanding of business requirements and their relationship to technology solutions.Proficiency with Java, TypeScript, HTML, and XML.Hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Selenium test automation.Familiarity with React and/or Next.js.Experience developing, maintaining, or enhancing test automation frameworks.Strong test planning, defect tracking, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to research and understand business/customer issues.Strong stakeholder relationship skills and ability to build trust with business partners.Strong organization, project coordination, planning, scheduling, and time-management skills.Ability to handle multiple projects and competing deadlines.Ability to work independently and influence stakeholders.Experience mentoring or developing less-experienced team members.Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs.Self-starter with a strong focus on quality, problem-solving, and delivering results.
