Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring compact/OH RN license and prior travel experience.

Details

• Critical Care Float Pool position within a teaching hospital setting
• Float coverage across multiple ICUs including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Float requirement to units of equivalent or lower acuity based on staffing and patient acuity
• 17-week assignment length
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Epic proficiency required
• Required skills: IV starts, telemetry, and ventilator management experience
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, and port access/management
• Respiratory care duties include ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Cardiovascular care includes titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, post cardiac surgery care, and sheath removal
• Neurological care may include CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, and lumbar drain management
• Additional duties include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and IV insulin protocol administration
• Candidates must be aware of the urgency of completing Ohio fingerprinting requirements immediately upon signing contract
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking; those at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
