Shop Service Technician

Job Summary Shop Service Technician Reports To: Service Manager FLSA Code: Hourly Non-Exempt Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform preventative and routine repairs on DEUTZ and non-DEUTZ products at the DEUTZ Power Center Facility. Liaise with DEUTZ customers, Parts Specialists, and the Service supervisor. Plan methods and sequence of performing repairs assigned. Pre-Order all parts and materials required to perform assigned repairs. Conduct repairs safely and effectively and ensure all repairs are completed as assigned. Ensure the cosmetic appearance of vehicles upon completion of repairs. Return unused parts and materials per DEUTZ Power Center guidelines. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Communicate with customers respectfully and honestly. Match identified failures to solutions necessary to complete repairs. Complete all work orders and time sheets promptly. Consult with the DEUTZ Service Department to ensure accuracy and approval of repairs when necessary. Perform work in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assist in filing warranty claims and customer invoices. Perform other duties as assigned. Other Qualifications Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills for professional interaction with customers in person and over the phone. Strong problem-solving abilities to identify issues, brainstorm solutions, and implement the best option. Strong attention to detail and thoroughness across all areas involved. Time management and organizational skills to manage tasks, set goals, and develop systems to achieve them. Experience & Requirements High School diploma or GED and at least two years of diesel engine experience. Proficient in basic computer use and portable diagnostic tools. At least 4 years of experience as a shop service technician. Preferred Qualifications Strong working knowledge of DEUTZ diesel engines. Candidate must have their own tools. Experience in diagnosing and repairing NG/CNG, Tier 3-4 emissions level is preferred. Certification/training in heavy equipment and diesel engine repairs preferred. Physical Requirements Work in an environment where standing and walking are common; may be exposed to weather conditions and loud noises.
