Under the general direction of the Bankruptcy Supervisor, the Lead Bankruptcy Advisor acts as a highly skilled independent technical expert and applies the Bankruptcy Code, the Revenue and Taxation Code, administrative regulations, and policies/procedures to ensure departmental compliance with bankruptcy laws. This includes responsibility for processing and resolving the technically difficult Personal Income Tax (PIT) or Business Entity (BE) bankruptcy cases, calls, and correspondence and may involve broad contact with taxpayers and their representatives, district office personnel, bankruptcy trustees, court personnel, the department’s Audit and Legal Divisions, and the office of the Attorney General. The incumbent is cross trained to handle internal and external customer contacts including inbound/outbound calls, chats, and/or correspondence. As a Lead Bankruptcy Advisor, the incumbent is responsible for guiding the resolution and collection of the most sensitive and complex bankruptcy cases, related legal issues, and litigation.

Working Conditions

This position requires 4 or more days in the office per week. It is designated office-centeredand may be eligible for some remote work based on departmental guidelines and operational need.
