What You'll Do

As a Respiratory Therapist , you'll provide exceptional respiratory care while working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals throughout the hospital.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assessing, treating, and monitoring patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders
• Administering oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and other respiratory treatments
• Managing and monitoring mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation
• Responding to emergency situations, including Code Blue and Rapid Response events
• Performing diagnostic testing such as arterial blood gas sampling, pulse oximetry, and pulmonary function testing (as applicable)
• Collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Documenting patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
• Educating patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and home care equipment
• Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and respiratory care best practices

What We're Looking For

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Current Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required
• Current BLS Certification required
• ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred or obtained according to department requirements
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and assessment skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced and emergency situations
