Location: Anderson, IN
Salary: $70,000-$75,000 Depending on Experience
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support cost accounting and budgeting functions within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on inventory management, standard costing, manufacturing analysis, intercompany transactions, and departmental budgeting.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain standard costs for inventory items, including cost roll-ups and validation of bills of materials and work center rates
Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with semi-annual physical inventories
Perform monthly inventory reconciliations between the general ledger and ERP system
Reconcile in-transit inventory for international shipments
Analyze spending, scrap, and manufacturing variances (materials, labor, and overhead)
Support the annual budgeting process and provide monthly budget vs. actual analysis to department leaders
Prepare and post journal entries, including intercompany transactions and account balancing
Manage work order and variance accounting transactions, ensuring accurate month-end cutoff
Assist with month-end close and financial reporting packages
Complete account reconciliations and general ledger analysis
Provide audit support and assist with internal and external reporting requirements
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
5+ years of relevant accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment required
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, sorting/filtering)
Experience with ERP systems; JDE (Oracle) is a plus
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Automotive manufacturing or multi-cultural environment experience is a plus
