Senior Financial Accountant

Job Details: Job Location: Redwood City, CA 94065 | Position Type: Full Time | Salary Range: $32.93 - $42.07 hourly | Position: SR. FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT (Redwood City, CA) JOB SUMMARY This person reports to the Accounting Manager. The primary purpose of the job is to assist in all accounting functions. They will balance daily credit union activities, compile journal vouchers, investigate discrepancies, and make appropriate adjustments. They will reconcile, research, and clear outstanding items in assigned General Ledger asset, liability and equity accounts, and assist service centers and internal departments to correct outages or open items that affect the General Ledger. Essential Functions Sound understanding of ASC 842, ASC 326 (CECL) and ability to work with landlords and lease agreements to calculate lease liability and right‑of‑use assets in accordance with GAAP. Track record of filling documentation gaps and setting exemplary documentation standards. Compile data from internal and external reports, research discrepancies and post activity on a daily basis. Balance and reconcile complex, assigned General Ledger accounts and post entries to clear balances on a monthly basis. Provide support to all accounting positions during absences, vacations and high work volume periods. Provide training to new and existing employees. Establish, maintain and update procedures for applicable functions quarterly. Assist in any other areas as requested by management. Communicate any backlog or training issues to the manager. Provide excellent service to vendors, members and co‑employees. Maintain knowledge of all rules, regulations, policies and procedures that pertain to accounting responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Three or more years of experience as a financial accountant. Proven knowledge of accounting principles. Proficiency with Excel or other spreadsheet software. Proficiency with Word or equivalent word‑processing software. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Excellent mathematical skills. Knowledge of all accounting areas. Strong support orientation to senior management who rely on accurate reports for decision making. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with good cooperative interaction with middle and senior management and other departments.
