CNC Programmer Job Description:

PrideStaff is working with a leading manufacturing facility in search of an experienced CNC Programmer. The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs to support efficient, high-quality machining operations. This role ensures proper setups and continuous process improvement. The CNC Programmer serves as a technical resource within the machining department and may step in for the Machining Supervisor when needed. The CNC Programmer is a full-time, temp to hire hire position in Brooklyn Park, MN.


CNC Programmer Job Responsibilities:

• Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  
• Oversee and assist with employee machine setups to ensure proper tooling, fixturing, and program execution.
  
• Step in for the Machining Supervisor during absences or as directed by management.
  
• Provide direction to machining personnel to maintain workflow and production priorities.
  
• Plan machining and programming by studying blueprints, materials, specifications, and machining parameters:
  
  • Interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Configure machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points.
  
• Set tool registers, offsets, and conditional switches; calculate requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; prove part programs.
  
• Load machines with workpieces; verify settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces.
  
• Maintain specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, and detecting malfunctions.
  
• Troubleshoot processes; edit programs; replace worn tools; adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  
• Meet production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality.
  
• Properly and safely load and unload castings and raw material in CNC machines.
  
• Use gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  
• Recognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
  
• Understand and perform tool wear offsets.
  
• Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machines.
  
• Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.

CNC Programmer Job Requirements & Working Conditions:

• 2-year technical college degree in a related field or 3 years of experience as a CNC Programmer.
  
• Working knowledge of tooling, programming processes, and CNC machinery.
  
• Experience utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and basic knowledge of standard office productivity software applications.
  
• Working knowledge of equipment, methods, materials, and practices used in production operations.
  
• Knowledge of safety requirements, including proper equipment use and safety precautions.
  
• Ability to understand, follow, and issue routine oral and written instructions.
  
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
  
• Physical Demands: Ability to move or transfer products with a forklift or hand cart. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist.
  
• Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high; hearing protection is advised. Safety glasses are required at all times while on the shop floor due to forced-air evacuation of metal debris off parts.
