Position Overview

Gansevoort Meatpacking is seeking a friendly, energetic, and service-oriented Gelato Cart Server / Restaurant Server to join our Food & Beverage team.

This is a unique combination role that will initially include shifts at our seasonal Gelato Cart , along with opportunities to work restaurant server shifts throughout the hotel’s Food & Beverage operation.

The Gelato Cart is a seasonal operation , so the ideal candidate is someone who is interested in continuing with Gansevoort by picking up restaurant server shifts as the season winds down.

Candidates should enjoy interacting with guests, be comfortable working independently at the Gelato Cart, and also have the hospitality skills necessary to provide polished table service in a restaurant environment.

Gelato Cart Responsibilities

• Welcome and engage guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
• Serve gelato and other menu items while maintaining proper portion and presentation standards.
• Provide guests with information about flavors, ingredients, and available offerings.
• Process guest transactions accurately using the POS system.
• Maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and visually appealing Gelato Cart throughout the shift.
• Monitor product levels and communicate replenishment needs.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
• Complete opening and closing responsibilities.
• Maintain excellent guest service while working in a fast-paced environment.
• Represent Gansevoort professionally when interacting with hotel guests and neighborhood visitors.

Restaurant Server Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, knowledgeable, and personalized service to restaurant guests.
• Greet guests and provide accurate information regarding menu selections, ingredients, and beverages.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter orders promptly into the POS system.
• Serve food and beverages according to established service standards.
• Monitor tables throughout the dining experience and anticipate guest needs.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, daily offerings, allergens, and preparation methods.
• Work closely with hosts, bussers, runners, bartenders, culinary team members, and management to ensure smooth service.
• Process guest checks and payments accurately.
• Maintain clean and properly prepared tables and service areas.
• Assist with opening, closing, side work, and other restaurant responsibilities.
• Handle guest questions or concerns professionally and involve management when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, café, gelato, ice cream, counter-service, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Restaurant serving experience strongly preferred , as this position is intended to transition into additional server shifts.
• Friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine interest in hospitality.
• Strong communication and guest-service skills.
• Comfortable handling transactions and working with a POS system.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger Food & Beverage team.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain professional standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain organized during busy periods.
• Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays .

Compensation

Gelato Cart shifts: $22.00 per hour.

Restaurant Server shifts: $11.35 per hour plus tips.

The applicable rate will be based on the position and shift being worked.
