Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 30, 2026
• End Date: March 1, 2027
• Location: Madison, Wisconsin
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, with holidays as operationally required
• Patient Population: Adult patients
• Charting: Epic electronic health record
• Floating: Required to float to neuro and oncology units
• Local Eligibility: Candidates who reside within 50 miles of the assignment location are not eligible

Travel RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of inpatient acute-care Registered Nurse experience within the past 3 years, including medical-surgical and telemetry nursing experience
• Experience working across cardiac, spine, and neuro medical-surgical units
• Valid Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact RN license
• Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
• Previous travel nursing experience
• Epic electronic health record charting experience
• Demonstrated competency in basic arrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and escalation of clinical changes
• Experience with chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, heparin and insulin protocols, IV starts, oxygen administration, wound care, and post-cardiac or post-neurosurgical care
• Successful completion of a pre-start telemetry assessment. Candidates must meet the required passing criteria, including accurate recognition of critical rhythms and third-degree heart blocks, within the permitted attempts
• Ability to float between assigned units and adapt to changing patient populations and staffing needs

Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult patients in medical-surgical, telemetry, neuro, oncology, and intermediate-care environments
• Complete comprehensive assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, identify dysrhythmias, and promptly escalate concerns
• Care for patients with complex cardiac, neurologic, orthopedic, spinal, renal, postoperative, and oncology-related conditions
• Manage telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, wound vacuums, tracheostomies, and other equipment within the nurse’s scope of practice
• Apply appropriate precautions and protocols, including isolation, heparin, insulin, PCA, and oxygen-management procedures
• Document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient responses accurately in Epic
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, pharmacists, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Educate patients and families, promote patient-centered care, and support safe transitions throughout the care process
• Float as assigned while maintaining high standards of clinical judgment, communication, organization, and teamwork
