Travel RN Job Details

• Location: Madison, Wisconsin
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 30, 2026
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
• Weekend Rotation: Approximately 2 weekend shifts during the contract; holiday rotation may be required
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 4 patients per nurse
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric surgical patients
• Healthcare Setting: 28-bed general surgery and postoperative telemetry unit
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Orientation: 20 hours
• Additional Information: Travelers may be required to float as needed. Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the assignment location.

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin or a compact-state RN license
• At least 2 years of acute care Med/Surg Tele experience within the last 3 years
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
• Recent experience caring for postoperative and telemetry patients
• Experience with Epic charting is required
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage telemetry monitoring
• Successful completion of a pre-start telemetry assessment, including rhythm recognition and heart block interpretation
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and patient-education skills
• Ability to work weekend and holiday rotations and float as needed

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult and geriatric patients recovering from complex abdominal and general surgical procedures
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with NG tubes, feeding tubes, PICC lines, central lines, TPN, J-tubes, G-tubes, surgical drains, ileostomies, colostomies, PCAs, epidurals, and wound VACs
• Manage oxygen therapy, IV therapy, insulin protocols, heparin protocols, blood products, chest tubes, arterial lines, and peripheral or central access devices within scope and unit standards
• Perform wound care, ostomy care, phlebotomy, IV starts, medication administration, and postoperative assessments
• Educate patients and families regarding recovery, medications, wound care, and ostomy management
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapy services, respiratory care, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Document care accurately in Epic and contribute to safe transitions of care
• Participate in rapid response and code team processes as appropriate
