Job Opportunity: Medical Director of Intracranial Epilepsy Monitoring Program

Our organization is actively searching for a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Neurologist who has completed a two-year surgical epilepsy fellowship. This role will serve as the Medical Director for our Intracranial Epilepsy Monitoring Program within the Neurology Department. The selected candidate will be responsible for both patient care and the advancement of our intracranial monitoring initiatives. This position is located at our Scarborough Campus, which features on-site MRI and neurodiagnostic facilities, along with access to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at a nearby medical center in Portland, Maine. Research opportunities are available through our dedicated research institute, and we can accommodate time for research through a structured academic pathway.

Our program is recognized as a level III Epilepsy Center, providing care to over 4,000 patients annually. The team currently includes:

• Five epileptologists (three specializing in adult care and two in pediatric care)
• Two dedicated nurse practitioners
• Five nursing staff members
• A nurse navigator

We collaborate closely with a fellowship-trained epilepsy and functional neurosurgeon, neuroradiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, and a dedicated neuropsychologist and psychometrician as we work towards establishing a level IV comprehensive epilepsy program. Our facilities include five EMU beds (three for adults and two for pediatrics), as well as fully accredited inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostic labs and a 3T MRI.

• Become part of a well-established Neurology Department with over 35 sub-specialty trained neurologists, including both Adult and Pediatric specialists, Neurohospitalists, and Advanced Practice Professionals, all supported by a strong clinical and administrative team.
• Hospital admission services, stroke care, and telestroke support are managed by a dedicated team of Neurohospitalists.
• Inpatient responsibilities are limited to a fair share of daytime coverage on the neurology consult service, approximately four to five weeks per year.
• Engage in teaching opportunities with MaineHealth Neurology residents, residents and fellows from other departments, as well as Tufts medical students.
• Academic appointments are available through our affiliation with Tufts Medical School, with pathways for academic advancement.
