Pharmacy Delivery Driver

The Pharmacy Driver supports Pharmacy operations by delivering medications to patient homes, as ordered by the Pharmacist or Primary Care Provider, in a timely and accurate manner. The Pharmacy Driver will assist in preparing prescriptions for delivery based on safety standards and Department of Transportation requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following description is a general representation of the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Prepare and deliver medication orders to patient homes on assigned route(s) using company vehicle. Ensure all medications are stored in a safe and secure manner, avoiding exposure to temperature extremes or other external factors. Ensure accurate, safe, and timely delivery of patient medications through hand-held device for routing, customer delivery information, and maintaining possession during travel. Ensure proper recordkeeping of deliveries for audits. Communicate with patients in a professional manner to alter them of scheduled deliveries to assist in providing delivery directly to patient and/or designee. Maintain company vehicle in good working condition, reports any issues to immediate supervisor for maintenance. Adhere to traffic and safety laws and best practices at all times. Assist with administrative or clerk-type activities to assist in pharmacy operations in absence of deliveries. Other duties as assigned. Education, Licensure, Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Active and Unencumbered Driver’s License, and Vehicle Insurance required. CDL preferred but not required. Able to meet company requirements for Motor Vehicle Report annually. Experience in transporting biological, sensitive, pharmaceutical, or similar materials strongly preferred. Experience in Pharmacy preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Able to work independently and complete assignments in time allotted. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar programs for data entry. Able to multitask effectively and with a high degree of accuracy. Strong interpersonal skills: able to demonstrate empathy, respect, and establish professional relationships with people of diverse ethnic or cultural backgrounds. Ability to speak a language other than English fluently preferred. Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment: Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including through the use of electronic communication devices. Able to sit, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
