Position Summary The Residence Hall Director (RHD) is a full-time, live‑in professional staff member responsible for community development, student retention, staff supervision, conduct administration, and daily operations of a residential area housing 150‑400 students. The RHD is expected to live on campus in a college‑provided apartment as a condition of this position. Job Description Essential Functions and Responsibilities Community Development and Student Retention Build and sustain a residential community culture rooted in inclusion, belonging, and genuine connection, with attention to first‑year transition and persistence to graduation. Develop and execute a semester‑long community vision, including a programming calendar that maintains engagement throughout the full academic year. Design programs that connect students with faculty, academic resources, and campus support services. Advise hall council, support student leadership development, and maintain regular visibility and personal engagement with residents. Student Support, Mental Health, and Crisis Response Provide direct support and guidance to residents navigating personal, interpersonal, or academic concerns, with timely referrals to Counseling Services and the VP of Student Affairs office. Participate in a rotating campus‑wide on‑call duty schedule; respond to after‑hours emergencies, crisis situations, and policy violations. Serve as a first responder in coordination with Campus Safety and campus emergency personnel; complete thorough incident documentation and follow‑up. Maintain awareness of mental health crisis indicators, Title IX protocols, Clery Act responsibilities, and mandatory reporting obligations. Student Conduct Serve as a conduct hearing officer for low to mid‑level policy violations, including facilitating meetings, determining responsibility, issuing sanctions, and maintaining accurate records. Promote and model community standards consistently; refer higher‑level or complex conduct matters to the Dean of Students office as appropriate. Staff Supervision and Development Recruit, select, train, and directly supervise 4–12 Resident Assistants and any other assigned student staff. Hold weekly one‑on‑ones, facilitate regular team meetings, and conduct formal semester‑level performance reviews with written feedback. Coach student staff on professional skills and personal development goals; address performance concerns through timely corrective action. Administrative and Facilities Management Manage hall‑level budget including planning, purchasing, and tracking expenditures; complete occupancy management, room changes, and resident records using StarRez, Maxient, and Workday. Oversee day‑to‑day hall operations including key accountability and facility walkthroughs; coordinate with Physical Plant Services on maintenance and work orders. Weekly meetings with custodial staff and PPS staff as needed. Track program attendance, resident engagement, and expenditures to evaluate impact; contribute to department‑level assessment and annual reporting. Collateral and Additional Responsibilities Serve in a collateral assignment specific to hall designation, which may include Summer Conference Manager, Compass Program Coordinator, Adventure House Supervisor, Recovery LLC Liaison, or Family Housing Lead. Serve on department and institution‑wide committees; participate in campus trainings and pursue involvement in AIMHO, NASPA, ACUHO‑I, or related professional organizations. Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508. Produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Previous experience working with college students in an educational or student affairs capacity. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success. Strong administrative, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability and willingness to live on campus as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or higher in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, or a related field. Previous live‑in residential life experience, including on‑call or duty rotation. Supervisory or management experience with student staff. Experience with student conduct administration and documentation systems. Familiarity with StarRez, Maxient, or comparable housing or case management platforms. Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility Associate Director of Residence Life and Residential Education and supervises student staff. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting is required. Ability to walk across campus and climb stairs. Travel Less than 5% travel expected for conferences and professional development. FLSA Status / Position Type / Expected Hours of Work / Salary Range Exempt from state classified system (Salary). Exempt from overtime. Full‑Time.

Full Year. Hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with regular evening and weekend obligations, rotating 24‑hour duty rotation. Live‑In Requirement This is a required live‑in position. Maintain an assigned on‑campus residence and serve as a visible, accessible presence within the residential community, modeling College expectations and contributing to a safe, inclusive, and connected living environment.
