Responsibilities Framework & Compliance Governance: Oversee the operational risk management framework, internal controls, and compliance monitoring specifically for PULSE Operations. Risk Identification & Mitigation: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks across complex business processes. Strategic Partnership: Partner with cross-functional teams, product managers, and business leaders to drive continuous process improvements and elevate risk maturity. Control Mechanism Design: Design and implement robust control mechanisms and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to proactively detect and neutralize operational vulnerabilities. Audit & Assessment Leadership: Lead rigorous risk assessments and audit remediation efforts, ensuring flawless alignment with corporate standards and regulatory requirements. Data-Driven Insights: Leverage advanced data analysis to uncover underlying trends, thoroughly analyze risk events, and deliver actionable, strategic insights to senior leadership. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Data Analytics At least 4 years of experience in Data Analysis, including translating complex data into strategic risk insights At least 3 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, or Legal within the financial services industry At least 2 years of experience in Project Management or Process Management Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Business, Finance or Data Analytics At least 1 year of hands‑on experience using data technical stacks (such as Python, R, Spark, or SQL) to automate risk reporting or analyze large datasets Professional certification in Business Process Management (BPM), Lean, or Six Sigma Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven track record of influencing senior leadership and driving organizational change At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, or Legal within the financial services industry At least 4 years of experience in Project or Process Management At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. Houston, TX: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
