Vehicle Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

Maintain and repair Camp Kulaqua vehicles and equipment in order to provide guests and staff with safe, presentable, and well operating transportation.

Camp Kulaqua is a ministry of the Florida Conference of Seventh Day Adventist .

Employee must abide by the policies of Camp Kulaqua and the Florida Conference of Seventh Day Adventist.

Camp Ministry is very diversified, employee must be agreeable to assist in other areas as requested.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

Education and Training:Required = High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)Required
3-5 years of mechanic experience on vehicle and farm-type equipment
Preferred Degree, certificates and licenses relevant to work experience

Position Qualifications: (The following knowledge, skills and abilities are representative of minimum levels of requirements).Knowledge:-
Knowledge of machines and tools used in the repair of vehicles and equipment.-
Knowledge of acceptable and customary maintenance practices.-
Knowledge of vehicle systems (e.g., electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical)

Skills:
Possess organizational skills in both task and time management.
Detail-oriented.
Basic computer skills
Perform work in a clean manner.
Monitor vehicle and equipment operations by watching gauges, dials, and other indications to make sure a machine is working properly.
Perform routine maintenance on Camp vehicles and equipment (owned and leased) and determine when and what type of maintenance is needed.
Troubleshoot and diagnosis causes of operating errors.

Ability to clearly communicate (verbal and written) in English with guests, co workers, and management.
Work well and effectively with others.
Able to follow detailed directions.
Ability to take ownership of assigned work, responsibilities, and work area. 
Self-motivated.
Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Complete assigned work in a timely manner.
Determine what action to take in order to repair a machine.
Be flexible.

Job Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:
Uphold the standards and policies of the Florida Conference of SDA’s and Camp Kulaqua.
Present a neat and professional personal appearance.
Wear, maintain, and clean personal work uniforms. 
Be willing to help Property Service Director when needed.
Be willing to work in other Departments as needed, with supervisor’s approval.
Be willing to complete work tasks not specific to machine maintenance.
Use and maintain any assigned radio, key(s) and vehicle.
Respectfully use and maintain Camp Kulaqua tools.
Attend all staff meetings and staff training (when applicable).
Follow established procedures for completing work orders/assigned work. 
Follow established procedures for removing stock items from inventory.
Safely operate Camp Kulaqua vehicles and equipment (e.g. golf carts, flatbed truck, tractor).
Transport vehicles and equipment offsite as needed.

Physical Requirements:
This position is physically demanding (e.g. bending, lifting (infrequently exceeding 100 lbs.), kneeling, carrying, pushing). It includes performing many repetitious tasks relating to maintenance work. Due to the nature of activities and setup provided for guests, strenuous tasks are part of daily duties.

Working Conditions:
Assigned work duties include both indoor and outdoor responsibilities. Therefore, work is performed in all types of climate conditions (climate controlled to inclement weather). Technicians are expected to be prepared and able to work in all-weather situations.

Must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with guests, Kulaqua staff, and contracted labor on a daily basis. Must remain calm under pressure and exhibit courtesy, diplomacy and kindness, both in person and through other communication avenues.
