Job description: Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join a local petroleum company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing complex tax compliance, planning, and reporting activities across various sectors. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of financial concepts.
Schedule: M-F
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and submit tax payments ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare and examine accounting records
- Monthly balance reports
- Report analysis and findings to the rest of the team
- Balance ATM activity daily
- Maintain margin spreadsheet with tax information
- Research annual tax rate changes and discrepancies
- Post card fees
- Post receipts related to vendor rebates
- Create weekly receivable reporting to management
- A minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in accounting
- a 4 year degree with a BS in accounting, CPA OR MBA HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Proven ability to meet strict state and local due dates
- Advanced Excel skills
- Detail oriented
