MRI Technologist - Outpatient NYU Imaging - East Meadow - Part Time

Position Summary MRI Technologist - Outpatient, NYU Imaging – East Meadow – Part Time. Under the direction of a Radiologist, operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and perform procedures according to established standards and practices, including patient identification, safety standards and completion of required forms before allowing a patient to leave the zone area. Job Responsibilities Accurately utilizes the PACS (Picture Archive and Communication System) to make images available to the radiologist for interpretation with a minimum number of exceptions. Enters proper exam coding in the Radiology Information System and completes exams on time. Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies; reports equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor promptly. Instructs and supervises radiography students in clinical practicum, performing exams and evaluating images with them. Performs other duties as assigned. Operates MRI equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas as ordered, producing images for interpretation by the radiologist. Prepares, positions, or immobilizes patients properly and provides clear, concise instructions regarding the procedure before beginning an exam; reviews image quality to ensure compliance with departmental SOP guidelines. Practices safety protocols with regard to patient and employee safety when in the range of the magnetic field. Minimum Qualifications Technical Diploma Graduate of an AMA‑approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services. New York State Radiologic Technologist License or New York State Radiologic Technologist Temporary Permit. ARRT Advanced Certification in MRI required within 180 days of hire or transfer. Strong communication (written and oral), problem‑solving, and customer‑service skills. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a Radiology Program or a related health field. 1–2 years of MRI technologist or training experience. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
