MRI Technician - Part Time (No Benefits) Outpatient Radiology - East Meadow

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an MRI Technician – Part Time (No Benefits) Outpatient Radiology – East Meadow. In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of a Radiologist, operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images and performs procedures according to established standards and practices, including patient identification, safety standards and completion of required forms before allowing a patient to leave zone area. Job Responsibilities Accurately utilizes the PACS to make images available to the radiologist for interpretation with minimum number of exceptions. Enters proper exam coding in the Radiology Information System and arranges and completes exams in a timely fashion. Assists in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Reports any equipment problems or malfunctions to the supervisor in a timely fashion. Instructs and supervises radiography students in clinical practicum; works with the radiography student to perform exams and evaluate images individually. Performs other duties as assigned. Operates MRI equipment to take diagnostic images of specific body areas/parts as ordered; produces diagnostic images for interpretation by the radiologist. Prepares and positions or immobilizes patients properly and provides clear instructions regarding the procedure before beginning an exam. Ensures quality review of the images fall within the guidelines of departmental SOP. Practices safety protocols with regard to patient and employee safety when in range of magnetic field. Minimum Qualifications Technical Diploma Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiology or Imaging Services. New York State Radiologic Technologist License or New York State Radiologic Technologist Temporary Permit. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Advanced Certification in MRI required within 180 days of hire or transfer. Strong communication (both written and oral), problem‑solving and customer‑service skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Radiology Program or related Health field. 1–2 years of MRI technologist or training experience.
