FURNACE OPERATOR

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:30pm - 11:00pm

No previous experience required, willing to invest time/training into the right person that is looking for a long-term career in the heat-treating industry.

Endothermic, Vacuum & Temper Furnace Operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ability to understand and read the traveler
· Follow verbal and written instructions
· Fill out the weekly maintenance sheets
· Keep the department neat and clean
· Gain knowledge of the furnaces: overtemps, atmosphere control, quench oil, generator, probes
· Ability to install and remove charts and proper chart signoff for documentation
· Ability to use SSI control instrumentation for charts
· Track steps in and out of computer in Visual Track
· Ability to follow a schedule
· Ability to perform basic hardness testing
· Proper handling methods and maintenance of lot control
· Part counting and packing methods
· Move work in scheduled areas
· Wear safety glasses, uniforms and safety shoes
· Support other departments when asked

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Basic computer, Visual Track, SSI charts
· Forklift operations
· Communication, verbal, phone and computer
· Hand & power tools
· Ability to read and speak the English language
· Ability to work well with others

Physical Demands:

· Ability to manually lift, push or pull a maximum of 40 pounds
· Ability to sit or stand a minimum of 2 hours at one time
· Ability to get in and out of a standard forklift
· Ability to climb stairs and walk a minimum of 1⁄2 mile at one time

Work Environment:

· The position is in a manufacturing environment and involves the ability to sit, stand, walk and lift for long periods of time throughout the day.
