Job Schedule: Full time
Weekly Hours: 40.00
Inpatient coverage of the Labor and Delivery Unit. Rotating 12-hour shifts. Every 2-3 weekends. Tasks include: Assisting the MD with admissions, ED Consultations, GYN Consultations, First Assisting on Labor and Delivery and in the Operating Room and labor management. Back up deliveries and amniotomies as scope allows.
Provides midwifery care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs during labor delivery and postpartum. Identifies additional needs for mothers and babies in birthing units. Monitors patients' condition during pregnancies, including co-management of high-risk pregnancies, and performs examinations and procedures. Provides prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, inter-conceptional, well-woman, and gynecologic care and education for women and their families. Maintains records of patient conditions and test results within care plans. May order and interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests as well as prescribe medications as permitted by state regulations.
Master's degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) level education required from an approved accredited nursing educational program of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) and American Midwifery Certification Board Medical (AMCB). Currently holds an unencumbered license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) based on state requirements and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). Must maintain current registered nursing (RN) license and APRN CNM licensure where the practice is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Required to pass certification examination as stipulated by the appropriate state board. Must provide Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number. Valid driver's license. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
