Assistant Baseball Coach

Bard College, a liberal arts college on the Hudson River, is aprivate institution working in the public interest. Bard College seeks an Assistant Baseball Coach to join theAthletics department. The Assistant Coach reports to the HeadCoach, and also to the Director of Athletics. The purpose of theposition is to support the College’s Intercollegiate Program withthe intention of maintaining the program within the guidelines ofthe NCAA Division III and additional conference affiliations. About Bard: Bard College’s main campus is in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., with1,900 undergraduate students; the College also includes multiplegraduate programs. Responsibilities: Consult with the Head Coach regarding daily practice plans andtraining assignments Communicate with the Head Coach regarding evaluations ofstudent-athletes and assist with the implementation of necessarystrategies to maintain the program in a competitive manner Be capable of solely running practice in the event the HeadCoach is unavailable due to illness or personal emergency Prepare team for competitions in regard to uniform inventory,sports medicine items, and other necessary team travel items Oversee and maintain equipment inventory in collaboration withthe Head Coach and/or team manager Assist Head Coach in areas of competition plans, recruitment ofprospective student-athletes, scouting, fundraising, team traveloperations, and academic monitoring Be responsible for organizing relevant documentation, e.g.,opponents’ schedules, rosters and scouting reports Display commitment to the principles of sportsmanship andethical conduct as per the NCAA Constitution and which areconsistent with Bard College’s educational mission and goals Adhere to additional policies and procedures contained in theBard College Coaches’ Handbook Qualifications: Experience as a player or coach is highly recommended CPR/AED and First Aid certification will be required uponhire Computer skills; recruiting capabilities; leadership, rolemodeling, organizational, and interpersonal skills are all hugeplusses! Ability to work in a team environment with diverse populationsof students, staff, faculty and alumni/ae a must Compensation: $22,500 This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonableestimate of the compensation for the position at the time of thejob posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factorsincluding but not limited to market and organizationalconsiderations, experience, and qualifications of a selectedcandidate as well as internal and external equity.
