Role Description The Electro-Mechanical Switchboard Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Hauppauge, NY. This role is responsible for designing electro-mechanical switchboards and related enclosures, including developing detailed CAD models, layouts, and drawings that meet electrical, mechanical, and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with engineering and production teams, reviewing specifications, selecting appropriate components, and ensuring compliance with industry codes and customer requirements. The engineer will conduct design reviews, support prototype builds, assist in resolving manufacturing and maintenance issues, and participate in inspections and quality checks. The role also involves updating documentation, improving design processes, and providing technical input to support continuous product and process improvement. Qualifications Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and electro-mechanical design, with the ability to apply engineering principles to switchboards and power distribution equipment. Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for creating detailed models, assemblies, and drawings of enclosures and switchgear components. Experience with Maintenance and Inspection activities related to electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with standards. Relevant exposure to Automotive or similar industrial environments, demonstrating familiarity with robust design practices and manufacturing processes. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Knowledge of electrical distribution equipment, switchgear, and applicable codes and standards (e.g., UL, NEC) is highly beneficial. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
