The staff nurse is responsible for the overall management of nursing care provided to patients. Assuring competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care from admission to discharge is essential. The nurse will ensure the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients. Disease prevention and restorative measures are also part of the role. Responding to medical and environmental emergencies is required. The staff nurse may float to other units within their scope of practice, depending on need and census. Flexibility with floating to different campuses or within the hospital is expected. Travel nurses can anticipate a notice prior to shift start time. A shuttle service is provided if floating is requested. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. Daily census averages around 25 patients. The facility has a total of 30 beds available. Interdisciplinary support services include physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and more. The nursing team is expected to adhere to established policies and procedures in patient care.
