Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Surgical Acute

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Every 3rd Weekend Required | Holiday Rotation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 34-bed Surgical Acute unit serving general medical, neurological, orthopedic, and surgical patient populations
• Maintain a patient assignment of 4–5 patients per shift, with potential for up to 6 patients based on unit needs
• Monitor telemetry in coordination with centralized telemetry staff who read and interpret strips
• Collaborate with Patient Care Technicians (1 PCT per 8–10 patients) and Respiratory Therapy, who manage all RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Participate in holiday rotation and float to other units on an occasional basis

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
• Current BLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in a medical-surgical, neurological, orthopedic, or surgical acute care setting
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in an acute care environment
• Travel nursing experience with ability to complete an abbreviated unit orientation
