Instructional Technology Coordinator

Consistent with the Northshore School District Strategic Plan and the Instructional Technology Plan, the principal goal of the Instructional Technology Team is to have a positive and equitable impact on student learning by facilitating the effective integration of instructional technologies and digital learning services in all learning environments. The primary role of the Instructional Technology Coordinator position is to coach teachers and other adult learners in the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) literacy skills necessary for effective teaching and learning in modern digital learning environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in consultation with the employee(s) involved.

1. Collaborate with other members of the Teaching and Learning Division, Special Education, and the Department for Organizational Change and Student Advancement in developing and delivering professional development to teachers for district-wide curriculum adoptions and learning initiatives as it applies to the use of instructional technologies, including computing resources, digital learning services, and learning management systems.
2. Provide professional development for teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators in support of district-provided student computing devices and digital learning environments, making purposeful connections to learning outcomes between technology use and learning outcomes for students.
3. Mentor teachers in integrating current, relevant and supportable technologies into their classroom. This includes, but is not limited to, interactive presentation technologies, digital content creation tools, cloud-based collaboration and productivity services, AI-enabled instructional tools, and communicating with students, families, and the community using district-supported digital tools and learning management systems.
4. Consistent with district strategic goals and KPIs, team with teacher(s) to develop classroom projects and lesson plans that promote students' attainment of Washington State learning standards and ISTE Standards, empowering students to use technology, including AI tools where and when appropriate, to collaborate, communicate, generate innovative ideas, investigate, and solve problems.
5. Partner with teachers to promote students' acquisition of skills related to digital citizenship, media literacy, and AI literacy. In alignment with the Danielson framework for teaching, support teachers in their understanding of systems and operations and the practice of safe, legal, ethical, and responsible use of technology, including artificial intelligence.
6. Assist site-based, shared decision-making teams in the development of strategies to support the goals of the School Action Plan in the integration of standard classroom technologies.
7. Analyze emerging technology trends, including AI and perform research to identify new classroom technologies and recommend district technology standards (including hardware, software, digital learning services, and support structures)
8. Effectively manage projects of various complexities, frequently more than one at a time.
9. Advocate for schools and teachers during the installation and implementation of software and hardware and facilitate communication between campuses and the Technology Department.
10. Take initiative for continued personal and professional growth.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Assistant Director of Instructional Technology and Library Services

Working Conditions: Required to facilitate groups and communicate effectively; required to meet inflexible deadlines; requires mental and visual concentration; requires occasional prolonged exposure to visual displays; occasionally required to deal with distraught or frustrated people; occasionally required to work flexible and irregular hours to complete tasks; required to operate a motor vehicle and travel between sites.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

The qualified candidate has a bachelor's degree and experience working in a Pre-K12 classroom setting, training adults in topics related to instructional practices, and/or curriculum development.

Preferred Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching in a Pre-K12 classroom setting; experience as technology integration specialist or experience in a role developing professional learning experiences for adults in curriculum, pedagogy, or educational technology.

Licenses/Special Requirements

Valid Washington State driver's license.

Salary: 2026-27 Non-Represented (NNRAP) Professional Technical Salary Schedule; Level I; placement on the salary schedule will be determined by Human Resources DOE. FLSA Exempt.

Work Year: 12 month position, 260 days per year, 8.0 hours per day. Benefits: Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement package, for eligible positions. Generally, you are eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31).
