Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description This role maintains, troubleshoots, and improves automated and manual production equipment, with a strong focus on robotics, welding systems, and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic machinery. You will install, repair, and optimize equipment, implement preventive maintenance programs, and support continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Responsibilities Install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers, wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment, documenting all maintenance activities accurately and in a timely manner. Monitor equipment for unusual sounds or operating conditions, and collaborate with supervisors or other maintenance personnel to diagnose issues and determine appropriate repairs. Dismantle defective machines and equipment, and install new or repaired parts to restore proper operation. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machine components to maintain optimal performance and extend equipment life. Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, including repairing and replacing gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related components. Implement and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all production and facility equipment. Assist with tooling, fixtures, material flow, and changeovers, and contribute to continuous improvement activities in these areas. Use hand and machine tools, including grinders, saws, lathes, and mills, in a safe and responsible manner. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area by upholding 5S standards and participating in periodic 5S audits. Troubleshoot robotic equipment by using robot controllers and teach pendants to correct synchronization issues and verify repairs. Program automated machinery, including robots and programmable controllers, to support efficient and reliable production operations. Prepare, adjust, and optimize robot programs and automated welding parameters to meet quality and productivity requirements. Analyze robotically welded products and determine the robot program and welding parameter adjustments needed to improve weld quality and consistency. Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of all equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic systems. Collaborate with Controls Engineering to elevate issues, recommend robot software and programming changes, and address chronic reliability problems. Conduct business-related activities in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements. Support and comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures, and related requirements. Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and adherence to established quality policies and standards, and actively seek ways to improve and promote quality. Perform other related duties as assigned to support maintenance and production operations. Essential Skills Proven experience in maintenance technician or maintenance mechanic roles with strong hands‑on troubleshooting skills. Demonstrated ability to install and maintain mechanical and electrical systems on automated and manual equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems, low‑voltage electrical systems, and high‑voltage electrical wiring. Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and a solid understanding of PLC and electrical diagrams. Experience with robotic troubleshooting, robotic preventive maintenance, and ladder programming. Knowledge and practical experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment. Advanced skills in welding and metal forming techniques and processes. Ability to understand and apply all aspects of manual and automated welding, including MIG and TIG processes. Demonstrated skill and understanding of the MIG welding process. Ability to assist in the development and troubleshooting of programs for Motoman or other 6‑axis industrial robots, including customizing robot movements. Capability to troubleshoot synchronized robotic programs and perform minor robot path adjustments. Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills, particularly in complex automated systems. Ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical schematics and blueprints. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for documentation and communication. Ability to train and mentor others in maintenance, robotics, and related technical areas. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Motoman Robotics XRC, NX, and/or DX programming is highly beneficial. Familiarity with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley systems is an advantage. Experience programming and maintaining industrial robots and automated welding systems. Exposure to quality systems and policies related to automotive or manufacturing standards. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting maintenance activities and following procedures. Comfort working cross‑functionally with engineering, production, and quality teams. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a production and facility maintenance environment that includes automated and manual equipment, industrial robots, welding systems, and a variety of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic machinery. You will regularly use hand and machine tools such as grinders, saws, lathes, and mills, and work with PLCs, robot controllers, teach pendants, and programmable controllers. The work involves hands‑on tasks on the shop floor, including equipment inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance. You will operate within established Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures and participate in 5S initiatives to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workplace. Work hours may align with production schedules and may require flexibility to support maintenance needs across shifts. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $62,400.00 - $68,640.00 per year.
