We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health RN to join our team in Ottumwa, IA. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with mental health conditions, ensuring safety, therapeutic support, and effective care coordination in a behavioral health setting.
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to behavioral health patients
Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans
Monitor mental health status and respond to behavioral changes
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
Document patient care and progress accurately
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and care

Must-Have Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in Iowa or compact state license allowing practice in Iowa

Nice-To-Have Qualifications

Prior experience in behavioral health , psychiatric, or mental health nursing
Experience in acute care or inpatient psychiatric settings

Required Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to handle sensitive and high-stress situations
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Compassionate and patient-focused approach

Education & Certification

Graduate of a Registered Nursing program (required)
Active RN License (Iowa or compact state)
BCLS Certification (required)

Work Environment

Behavioral Health / Psychiatric care setting
Onsite role - facility-based work required
Collaborative multidisciplinary team
