Nursing Manager Med/Surg

The Medical/Surgical Nursing Manager is a registered nurse responsible for supervising patient care, nursing staff, and medical/surgical unit operations. This role involves collaborating with leadership to ensure efficient clinical operations, staff development, resource management, and quality improvement within the medical/surgical department. The manager is expected to bring expertise in nursing and leadership to enhance patient outcomes and operational effectiveness. Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate nursing staff and patient care activities on the medical/surgical unit.
• Collaborate with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to facilitate efficient clinical operations.
• Manage resources effectively to support unit needs and patient care quality.
• Lead staff development initiatives including training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
• Implement and monitor quality improvement programs to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
• Ensure compliance with nursing policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in recruitment, scheduling, and retention of nursing personnel.
• Address and resolve operational and clinical issues as they arise on the unit.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, preferably in medical/surgical settings.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills in a clinical environment.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

• Experience with staff development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
• Ability to use healthcare information systems and electronic medical records effectively.

• Role may require flexibility in scheduling to address unit needs and emergencies.

• Full-time position with shifts aligned to medical/surgical unit operational hours.
• Schedule may include day, evening, or weekend shifts as needed to cover unit management.
• Participation in on-call rotation or availability for urgent issues may be required.
