Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact this summer as an Itinerant Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (TOD) in an Extended School Year (ESY) program located near Clarks Summit, PA. This contract opportunity is perfect for professionals experienced in providing instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Key Qualifications:
- Pennsylvania certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH), or equivalent
- Experience working with K-12 students with hearing loss in school settings
- Knowledge of best practices in communication modes, accommodations, and education technologies for the D/HH population
- Strong time management skills to travel between sites as needed (itinerant role)
- Ability to develop and adapt materials and instruction for individualized student needs
- Creative, flexible, and committed to supporting student access and success
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing loss during the ESY program
- Travel between schools within the intermediate unit to serve students on your itinerant caseload
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure accessible instruction
- Implement IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications tailored to each student’s needs
- Use a range of communication methods such as ASL, spoken English, and assistive technology as appropriate
- Maintain accurate documentation on student progress and service delivery
