Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring cardiac telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.

Job Details

• PCU/Stepdown unit setting within a hospital,
• Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM,
• 36 or 48-hour contract options accepted,
• Targeted patient ratios of 1:4, with potential to increase to 1:5-6,
• Unit participates in a team nursing model with RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partnering to care for patients,
• Cardiac telemetry care including drips, ABG draws, and monitoring,
• Cardiac procedures include catheterizations, ablations, pacers, and ICDs,
• Manages Cardizem, Cardene, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitro, and insulin drips,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• Traveler will be prioritized for floating at facility discretion,
• May float within specialty clusters to high-risk respiratory/COVID units or ED to support boarder care,
• May float between main campus (Dayton), south campus (Centerville), or north campus (Englewood),
• Must work every other weekend and holiday,

Job Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required,
• BLS and ACLS certification required,
• NIHSS certification preferred,
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required,
• SD or PCU experience specifically required; ICU experience does not qualify,
• 1:4-6 patient ratio experience required,
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips,
• ABG draw experience required,
• Epic charting experience required,
• Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment,
• Must complete lab work and EKG/dysrhythmia exam within 72 hours of contract signing,
• Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred,
• No candidates with past license disciplinary action accepted,

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry, drip management, and ABG draw care for cardiac patients,
• Fitted for N95 respirator prior to working on the high-risk respiratory unit unless PAPR is provided,
• Navy blue scrubs required,
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no negotiation after offer,
• References are not required for consideration,
• Local candidates within 50-mile radius are not accepted,
• Previous PERM/PRN staff or agency employees not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler,
• Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per contract due to low census,
• Facility may cancel agreement with 2 weeks' notice without fee or penalty,
• Travel experience preferred but not required; first-time travelers may be considered
