Unity Bus Driver- Sub

This position exists to provide transportation for students between home and school for the purposes of instruction, athletics, and other trips as approved by the Principal.

Essential job functions include:

• Maintain the proper licensing requirements as defined by the NH DMV
• Transport children to and from school in the mornings, afternoons, and field trips as assigned
• Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends as permitted by the school
• Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times
• Keep bus fueled in accordance with school expectations
• Obey all traffic laws
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus before and after each route and maintain log
• Ensure safety of all students
• Provide disciplinary support and guidance for children as appropriate to maintain a safe and healthy environment
• Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required
• Attend safety and training meetings as required
• Understand Board policies related to Transportation and Confidentiality
• Communicate any problems with appropriate school personnel in a timely manner

Education, certification, and licensure:

• Maintain the proper licensing requirements as defined by the NH DMV
• School Bus endorsement required for this position

• Demonstrates exceptional reliability
• Communicates professionally, fairly, and appropriately at all levels
• Able to handle complex or unexpected issues with tact and professionalism while maintaining safety and security of vessel and passengers
• Able to work independently under the support of school administration

It is also anticipated that stress will be associated with this position primarily due to the demands of this position. It is necessary that the individual have the capacity to remain calm, considerate, and tactful under stressful and unanticipated situations. Individual must exercise a high level of confidentiality in handling staff and student information.
