Culinary Teacher (Part‑Time) at Centennial High School Location: CENTENNIAL SD 28J Centennial High School – Portland, Oregon Job ID: 5747721 Application Deadline: Jul 01, 2026 4:30 PM (Pacific Standard Time) Starting Date: Aug 31, 2026 FTE: 0.4 (3.2 hours) – Contract Days: 192 – Salary: $21,219.60 – $42,439.20 per year Benefits: PERS, Medical, Dental, Vision, Optional Insurances, Paid Leaves, Holiday Pay Job Purpose Statement: The position of Teacher – Basic Education is for the purpose of improving student success in academics or skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; developing lesson plans; modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments; providing a safe and optimal learning environment and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Essential Job Functions Plan and implement a program of study following state and district outcomes that meet the individual needs and abilities of the students. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum student outcomes. Employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting objectives. Assess students’ academic learning and/or skills to provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding progress, expectations, goals, etc. Collaborate with school personnel and parents to improve student performance, develop solutions and plan curriculum. Implement instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for achieving stated objectives. Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment. Prepare teaching materials and reports (grades, attendance, anecdotal record, etc.) for lesson plans and documentation of progress. Uphold enforcement of school rules, administrative regulations and board policy. Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude as a faculty member. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff and district committees as requested. Meet state standards for competent and ethical performance. Other Job Functions Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to support teacher’s expectations and reinforce classroom goals. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Confer with colleagues, administrators, students and/or parents when necessary. Participate in various meetings (parent conferences, in‑service training, site meetings, etc.) to receive and/or provide information. Job Requirements – Qualifications Experience Preferred: Prior job related experience. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required: Skills in planning, developing, and implementing appropriate curriculum and assisting students in realizing success. Effective communication skills with students, parents and other school personnel. Knowledge of instructional theory and best practices, curriculum, state education code and district policies. Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedule and deadlines. Significant physical abilities including lifting/carrying/reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception and accommodation field of vision. Ability to speak a second language. Requirements: Proper TSPC Licensure with Culinary (CTE) endorsement required or ability to obtain the endorsement. Terms of Employment 192 days per year. Salary established by collective bargaining agreement. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Licensed Staff Personnel.
