Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to join a highly respected Am Law firm.

Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Position Type: Associate (3–5 years)

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, multi-faceted litigation practice in a collaborative and nationally recognized firm environment. The associate will work closely with a team of experienced partners, senior counsel, and fellow associates on a broad range of matters, including commercial disputes, regulatory issues, and complex litigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft motions, pleadings, and other litigation-related documents
• Manage and coordinate discovery in complex matters
• Conduct legal research and develop case strategy
• Interface directly with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams
• Support all phases of litigation from inception through resolution

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of transferable litigation experience
• Strong background in litigation procedure, including motion practice and discovery
• Excellent academic credentials
• Superior research, writing, and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated commitment to client service and teamwork

Requirements

• Active membership in the Alabama Bar
• Must reside in or relocate to the Birmingham, AL area prior to start
• Ability to work in-office at least three business days per week

Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary range of $250,000 – $315,000 , commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is on a partnership track and provides meaningful opportunities for long-term growth and advancement within the firm.
