Description: The unit consists of two operating rooms. The unit manager will conduct a phone interview for candidate selection. The hospital may cancel up to four shifts during the 13-week assignment. There is a call requirement for surgical techs. Common types of cases performed include all orthopedic and spine procedures. Scrubbing is required for surgical techs. The team consists of orthopedic surgical technologists and support staff. Weekends and holidays are part of the standard requirements. Common patient equipment and supplies will need to be disinfected and sterilized. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. Response time for call is 30 minutes. No independent unit staffing for sterile processing. The preferred certification for sterile processing is through IAHCSMM or CBSPD. Floating is not typically required. Orientation typically lasts about one week. The hospital operates pharmacy and respiratory therapy services 24/7.
