This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. American Water is also proud to offer employees learning opportunities and work experiences to grow professional. * #LI-Onsite * #LI-MR23 Primary Role Responsibilities for this position establishes the day-to-day management of personnel and implementation of water quality, laboratory programs, environmental stewardship and environmental rules and regulations toensure compliance with pertinent state and federal regulations. Responsible for maintaining budgets, committing expenditures, and setting priorities. Maintains liaisons with individuals within and outside of the organization - key regulatory officials and company personnel. Responsible for acting independently on technical and environmental matters. Key Accountabilities * Initiates and controls the overall environmental compliance program in all geographic areas of responsibility. * This includes oversight of allrequired monitoring and reporting of sample results required under the Safe Drinking Water Act and/or Clean Water Act. * Ensuring that the environmental program requirements are met in accordance with the Environmental Management Plans. * Coordinates resolution of environmental issues with State regulatory personnel and local operations. * Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have far-reaching impact on environmental activities. * Directs supportive workforce to maintain compliance with environmental regulations and laboratory procedures which may include accreditation/certification for specialized parameters. * Reviewing and determining the impact on company activities from existing and proposed regulations at the local, state and federal level. * Executes departmental business plans and contributes to the development of functional strategies. * Assisting in preparing capital and O&M budgets for environmental compliance related items. * Assuring that policies, programs, standards of performance and approved objectives related to environmental compliance are adhered to including those involving health and safety, affirmative action, corporate responsibility and labor relations. _ Knowledge/Skills _ * Knowledge of science, theory and application of water/wastewater treatment and operations, water quality monitoring and quality assurance programs. * Must possess knowledge of current and emerging environmental issues and environmental regulations impacting water resources and facility operations. * Knowledge of industry trade organizations to include participation in related activities aimed at improving environmental program awareness and stewardship opportunities. * Must understand company goals and objectives, policies, procedures and business plans. _ Experience/Education _ * Bachelors in science or engineering related field is required * A minimum of 5 -10 years experience, depending on the level of the position in environmental management, water quality, and compliance * Must have experience in management of people, processes, technologies, and budgets. * Must have experience with Microsoft Office Applications * Prevous Project Management experience desired * On-call responsibilites * Must hold a valid State issued Driver’s License. * Water license preferred. _ Travel Requirements _ * Role will be 4 days in office/ 1 day Remote * Must be able to travel Egg Harbor and Salem, NJ * Must be able to travel for meetings _ Certifications/Licenses _ * Must hold a valid State issued Driver’s License. * Water license preferred. _ Competencies _ Prioritizes & Role Models Safety Self-Awareness Develops Talent Plans, Aligns, & Directs Drives Engagement Decision Quality * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing ™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.
